whatsapp icons showing up on desktop too on one page

Good morning,
this is my first topic after the purchase of Social Links Pro.
First of all, congrats, I am very happy with the extension so far.
I have a question: I noticed that only on k2 items, at least so far, sometimes but not all the times the Social Tabs module shows the Whatsapp icon on Desktop too; that should show up only when the site is viewed on mobile right?

Why is that?
Thank you,
have a great day.

Hi,

I'm glad you like CoalaWeb SocialLinks ;)

You are right there shouldn't be any Whatsapp buttons on a desktop, I use a PHP library called "Mobile Detect" to detect if the current page is being viewed on a mobile or tablet. I suspect that their is a conflict on that particular page. Could you give me a link to page in question so I can take a look? and can you also answer a few questions:

  • What version of Joomla re you using?
  • What version of K2?
  • Are you using any cache or compress on your website?

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply.

The page where I've seen it happening more often is this one , but you can check other articles in the blog, sometimes I've seen the whatsapp icon on other pages too.

I use joomla 3.9.16; k2 is v2 10.2.
I don't use any particular compress tool.
About my cache settings, I have "Platform specific caching" set to No and I now read in the tooltip:

"Enable when html output on mobile differs from other devices..."

could it be the reason?
System cache is set on: ON - Conservative caching.

Thanks,
have a good day.

Hi,

I will have to run some more tests but I wasn't able to replicate the issue with the link you posted. I tried several work stations and browsers but it didn't display, could you answer a few more questions:

  • What type of computer are you using? for example laptop or desktop.
  • What Operating System?
  • If you clear your Joomla and browser cache does it continue to display?
  • What Browser are you using? and does it continue to display if you change browser?

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply,
I am using Debian and firefox 68.7, I've also had the same issue with Chromium.
I think for sure it has something to do with the cache: I got the feeling the icon shows up after I clean the cache on joomla...
btw about my previous post, you think could it be that "platform specific Caching" should be set to NO?
I'll post something more precise as I get to know more about the issue.
Have a good day.
